Week in Review

Friday November 30th vs. Antigonish 1 @ Dartmouth 3

Tonight's game was a fast paced game involving a red hot Blizzard team and a much improved Bulldog squad. The Blizzard came away with a 3-1 win at home in the Sportsplex. Although the team didn't play their best they dominated most of the play. The game was much like the previous meeting in which the teams tied 2-2. It was a fast paced game with very little hitting. The goaltending was the story again, with both teams getting numerous scoring chances. B.J. VanMielo had the Blizzard's number for the most of the game keeping the score 1-1 going into the third period. The Blizzard's second period goal came from Mark Tanner, who also got the game winner in the third period. Jordie Preston continued his point streak with an insurance goal. Mark almost completed the hat trick missing the empty net shot by inches. "We meet a greatly improved team tonight and we had to capitalize on our chances." said an elated Tanner. "I'm glad I could get out of my recent slump and get a few goals. I was really skating with the puck well tonight." Mark is the leading scoring defense on the team with 13 points this season. The three stars were: 1. Mark Tanner 2. BJ VanMielo 3. FP Guennette.

Saturday December 1st vs. Dartmouth 1 @ Truro 2

The Blizzard's streak came to an end tonight against the Truro Bearcats. The Blizz almost came back from a 2-0 deficit in the third period to make the game close. Penalties hurt the team as the Bearcats scored both goals on Power Plays. Joel Isenor opened the scoring in the second with a weak goal during a scramble in front. Scott Goheen tallied another late in the second making it 2-0 after 2. Things got ugly when Isenor nailed Jordie Preston cutting across the blueline causing him to leave the game. Jordie suffered a concussion and would not return in the third. With another man down in the Third period, Jonathan Lelievre broke in on Della Vedova and shot over his glove for a shorthanded goal. Carlos Sayde played well and received the Third Star of the game.

Sunday December 2nd vs. Halifax 2 @ Dartmouth 1

For the second game in a row the Blizzard suffered a 2-1 defeat. The game was an extremely close game with both teams playing well. Both teams were without a couple of there top scorers for today's meeting. Preston, Dunphy and Breau were scratches for the Blizz while two of Halifax's top scorers were out; Francios Cloutier and Darrell Jarret not to mention many others. The Halifax Power Play struck first opening the scoring by Mark Coady in the second period. The Olands made it 2-0 from a goal by Jason Snow. The third period saw the Blizzard keep the pressure on having a questionable goal called back. Not to long after Chris Fougere broke Scott Guthro's shutout picking up a Steve Lind rebound and sliding it home. " The team played hard. We had a few guys out of the lineup and everyone picked it up." said Fougere. "It's frustrating for Schriver to play so good and then we can't score to bail him out." The Blizz pulled the goalie and pressured but the game ended 2-1 for Halifax. Three Stars: 1. Scott Guthro 2. Chris Fougere  3. Jason Snow
